The book I have chosen to reflect on is The Rag And Bone Shop by is Robert Cormier. I read this in class and chose to reflect on it because I felt it had a very strong way of showing so many injustices the world faces. Trent who interviews Jason repeatedly argues with himself about continuing getting a confession when deep down he knows the boy is innocent. I feel as though these arguments and mind games the book covers really shows how manipulative people of authority can be. Especially when pressured to get a confession from the person who committed the crime. So these people are willing to manipulate and deceive innocent people just so the stress of their jobs can lessen. This is completely un-moral and just straight up wrong. These detectives and people in authority can twist your words and have you ending up in jail for things you didn't do. I feel like this book really sheds light onto this topic that really is a problem in our modern day justice system. However I think that it is a tough situation. Because if you allow all people to speak with a lawyer first you can allow criminals to get their stories straight and possibly be freed. The flipside of that is innocent people being brought in without help from an attorney or lawyer can be tricked into confessing such as Jason did for a crime they didn’t commit. So I can really see both sides of this argument that we face. I think this book is a wonderful example of what can happen to innocent people who talk to these investigators without help. And even though Jason was not sent to jail as another confession came out he was so distraught by the whole situation that he in the end of the story goes out and kills someone. But none of that would've happened if he was not accused of murder there for having him consider if he could in all actuality kill/ killed someone . -Nick May

C'asia Corbett_Book Reflection #5
The book The Breaking Point is a good book, I love reading a book that can give me images in my head about what's actually going on throughout the book. Something I like about the book is because i can relate to it in many ways, for an example the book is about a girl who goes through a lot and lets very little feelings out. This reminds me of my younger sister because she keeps things hidden and she smiles like nothing never happens. Shes has a very strong personality and she won't express herself until she's finally fed up with everything. Another thing I like about this book is that it makes scenes in the book much clearer by the vocabulary the author uses , Its well elaborated and worded. this book inspires me to get my feelings out instead of hold hem in because it's not healthy for the brain or body and it causes a lot of stress, Even if your not gonna tell somebody write them down in a book or on a blank piece of paper to get it out of your way.
Up For Sale
Up For Sale, the tragic book about human trafficking and modern slavery in our world today. Amazing right? That slavery is still going on even though you hardly hear about on the news or in classrooms. When most people hear the world slavery they think of blacks being owned by whites, they think of colored people having no freedom or say in any part of their lives. What they don't think about is that 7 year old Caucasian girl who's forced to live with complete strangers beaten everyday and isn't sure why. Who is raped by her owners son. Slavery isn't about color anymore it's about the vulnerable and those who simply ignore the fact that the world isn't how it should be. In the bus you travel through many different countries with different boys and girls and read about what they go through day in and day out. It really makes you appreciate what you have and realize what may seem easy for you to get is very hard for others. Something as easy as meal in the morning can be a struggle for modern day slaves or people forced into sex trafficking: they are told when to eat and what to eat...if they're lucky. This book is all about opening your eyes and facing reality that slavery isn't over and we have to do something about it. All 62 pages broke my heart in a different way this book is truly eye opening and I recommend it to everyone.
Reflection #5
Twilight Reflection
In the outstanding novel Twilight the author creates an amazing teenage story by using characters our age to get all of his points across. Twilight is a story about a young teen aged girl named Isabella (Bella) who moves from Arizona to Washington so she can live with her father. Isabella attends Forks high school, and meets a boy named Edward Cullen who is a vampire but doesn't tell her because he is very quiet, from that point on they became friends very closely. Overtime Edward confirms to Bella that he is a vampire when she asks having information from Jacob another friend who is close to her, and from that point on thong really weren't the same, even when she found out the Cullen's background. In the end this book had me thirsty for more to read about the Cullen's background and the blind romance of Edward and Bella. In conclusion I can relate this to social injustice because I still feel that Edward was afraid to tell the truth about him being a vampire because others maybe would have judged him, not wanting to be near him, not talking to him, or not even being nice to him, so in the end I can honestly say that I understand why Edward did not tell Bella that he was a vampire even though at times she could have been endangered. I can also compare this to another book that I read earlier in the year The Bully because Tyray never told his dad or anyone that he was gang related just so he could keep them safe from danger.

Lost and Found Reflection

Lost And Found
Reflection
Anne Schraff
I enjoyed reading the book Lost And Found. It inspires me to listen to my mom at all times , because when your disobedience bad things happen. It's really a good book for a person who likes mysteries that keeps them thinking on what's happening next.
One thing I really liked about this book is how you can picture some of the scenes in you head by how graphic the author uses his words.
In the beginning of the book I thought that I wouldn't like it , but by the end of chapter one i wanted to read on because I was eager to know what was coming next.In many scenes of the book a created a picture in my head of what it would be like if I was in Jamie Wills situation. Reading this book kept me wanting more and more like a child wanted candy.

The book I read and am going to reflect on is the Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn. This book is about how after his adventure with Tom Sawyer
he is thrust into a world of manners and such that he doesn’t like. I think
this book is very well written and I think most will enjoy reading it. Mark
twain covers topics such as abuse from Huckleberries Finn’s father, the runaway
slave he runs into. I personally enjoyed it because I found the story very
realistic. I felt that mark twain did a good job laying out the story without
confusing me as a reader. I enjoyed how Mark Twain made the characters choices
commensurate to the adversity they faced. It’s not like he’s not getting his
allowance so he’s leaving he left because he was being beaten by his father.
Throughout the story I felt like I didn’t know what was next to happen. I could
feel the bond being strengthened between the slave boy and him with every
possible terrible incident avoided. I would definitely recommend this book and
its predecessor to anyone of my peers. Although it has some ideas some would
find difficult to read. If I had the chance to later read this book again I
would. If I were to read it again though I think I would read the Adventures of
Tom Sawyer first again.

The Gun Reflection
The third book that I chose to read was he gun. The gun was a story about a freshman teenager named Tyray Hobbs who had troubles at home, He took them out at school by being a bully until one day a student named Darrel decide to step up to him. Darrel beats Tyray up which causes Tyray to lose his reputation.
After the fight Tyray is eager to get revenge on Darrel and to get his reputation back so he chooses to get a gun to scare Darrel. In the end Tyray finally gets his chance to have revenge but decides to be the bigger person and not do anything which shows that Tyray really is a good person.
In context to what we are learning in class this book shows an example of social injustice because it demonstrates the teenagers primarily cannot have a change in their life without their being some kind of conflict that causes them to feel like they have to change in a way to feel they fit in wit
